Sucrose Synthase Key Enzyme In Sucrose Metabolism Biology Essay
Sucrose Synthase Key Enzyme In Sucrose Metabolism Biology Essay Sucrose synthase is a key chemical in sucrose digestion. Sucrose digestion is required by the plant to frame carbon required for different procedures in the plant, for example, breath, starch and cell divider development. The catalyst is encoded by a little multigene family where most plants have in any event two isoforms of the protein. The energy of sucrose synthase show that diverse Km esteems and proportions of sucrose breakdown exist for the catalyst. The strategies for separating, testing and filtering the catalyst are appeared in the compound attributes. Factors, for example, pH, expansion of various cradles, metal particles, contagious volatiles just as natural factors, for example, anoxia have all been appeared to influence sucrose synthase movement. The catalysts protein groupings have been phylogenetically split into six principle bunches utilizing clustalw. Sucrose synthase is ordinarily present in the cytoplasm however the accessibility of sucrose in the chloroplast and its capacity to utilize ADP as a substrate would show that the chemical might have the option to act in the chloroplast just as the cytoplasm. Sucrose synthase is a significant chemical in sucrose digestion in plants cells. (Persia et al., 2008) The principle course of passage of carbon from sucrose is ordinarily known to be sucrose synthase. (Bieniawska et al., 2007) This carbon is utilized for breath and in the amalgamation of cell divider polymers and starch. (Persia et al., 2008) The primary type of diminished carbon in plants is sucrose. It is utilized to help development and amalgamation of save materials for example starch in heterotrophic sink tissues. (Matic et al., 2004) The UDP-glucose provided by sucrose synthase is utilized for cell divider biosynthesis while working with the cellulose synthase complex. (Baud, Vaultier and Rochat, 2004) In most natural product tissues, an expansion in sucrose synthase action is close by with sucrose collection. This would recommend that sucrose synthase assumes a physiologically significant job. (Islam, Matsui and Yoshida, 1996) Carbohydrates are shipped from photosynthetic sou rce tissues to sink tissues as sucrose. The subsequent cleavage of sucrose in the sink tissues is the initial step for its utilization in different metabolic pathways. The sugar is separated in vivo by either sucrose synthase (Sus) or by invertase. Invertase catalyzes an irreversible response where sucrose is separated into glucose and fructose (Matic et al., 2004) while sucrose synthase catalyzes the reversible change of sucrose and uridine-diphosphate (UDP) into uridine-diphosphoglucose and fructose. (Hirose, Scofield and Terao, 2008) (Hardin and Huber, 2004) These catalysts assume an essential job in plant development and improvement. (Abid et al., 2009) Sucrose Synthase is cytosolic (Ã
ebkovã ¡ et al., 1995) and has been portrayed in various plant species, for example, maize (Hardin and Huber, 2004), rice (Odegard, Liu and Lumen, 1996) and sugarcane (Schã ¤fer, Rohwer and Botha (2005)). Its action has been concentrated in many plant organs, for example, roots, leaves and seed s. (Ã
ebkovã ¡ et al., 1995) For trees, cellulose biosynthesis is an exceptionally controlled procedure where carbon is for all time put in their essential and optional cell dividers. Sucrose is the fundamental carbon hotspot for cellulose combination. The stem is comprised of very dynamic sink cells which use sucrose for cellulose amalgamation. Sucrose synthase is the fundamental sucrolytic compound in these cells that catalyzes the reversible transformation of sucrose into fructose and UDP-glucose which is required for cellulose biosynthesis. (Joshi, Bhandari and Ranjan, 2004) It likewise assumes a significant job giving satisfactory sugar flexibly during anoxic pressure. It has been demonstrated that during anoxic germination of rice, sucrose synthase action was improved though the action of invertase was discouraged. This would demonstrate that sucrose synthase is the chemical transcendently answerable for sucrose breakdown during anoxia. (Joshi, Bhandari and Ranjan, 2004) Fig 1: Diagram of the cleavage and amalgamation response of sucrose synthase (Rã ¶mer et al., 2004) Distinctive isoforms of the quality are available in many plants. On account of maize, two non-allelic qualities were found for sucrose synthase yet more examination lead to the revelation of a third. In any event three qualities for sucrose synthase have been found in rice where the qualities show contrasts in articulation between tissues. RSus1 is communicated in root phloem while RSus2 is communicated in leaf phloem. (Schã ¤fer, Rohwer and Botha, 2005) When looking at the changed isoforms at an amino corrosive level it is gives the idea that there is less homology between various sucrose synthase qualities in an animal groups than when the quality is contrasted with its comparing quality in another species. On account of maize, there is 75% homology between the SS1 quality and SS2 quality of maize however there is 90% homology between rice RSus1 and maize SS2 qualities. In sugarcane, the SS1 quality is 97% indistinguishable at the amino corrosive level to maize SS1 quality. (Ling le and Dyer, 2001) Nolte and Koch (1993) embraced an investigation to decide if sucrose synthase was confined to certain piece of the vascular strand. It is notable that sucrose synthase is available in vascular packages for instance in transgenic tobacco plants phloem explicit articulation of a maize sucrose synthase quality has been watched. Their investigation, utilizing immunohistochemistry, found that sucrose synthase was confined to the cytoplasm of buddy cells of the phloem and didn't give off an impression of being available in different organelles of the plant. (Nolte and Koch, 1993) The sub-atomic mass of sucrose synthase can be dictated by gel filtration. Sucrose synthase elutes from the section with a Kav estimation of 0.17844 which when utilizing an adjustment bend relates to an atomic mass of 362kDa. Utilizing SDS-PAGE slope gel the sub-atomic mass of every subunit can be evaluated at 92kDa. This can reason that sucrose synthase is a tetrameric protein with a sub-atomic mass of 360kDa and four indistinguishable subunits of 90kDa. (Hardin and Huber, 2004) (Elling and Kula, 1993) It can connect with films and the actin cytoskeleton where its action is known to be engaged with cellulose blend. It does this by diverting uridine-diphosglucose to the developing glucan chain by the protein cellulose synthase. (Hardin and Huber, 2004) Investigation of Sucrose Synthase Gene Family: From the consequences of species analyzed to date, it is indicated that sucrose synthase is encoded by a little multigene family. (Bieniawska et al, 2007) Most types of plants have in any event two isoforms of sucrose synthase. These isoforms as a rule have equivalent biochemical properties and profoundly homologous amino corrosive groupings. (Wen et al., 2010) Further examination of transgenic and freak crop plants show certain isoforms of sucrose synthase have explicit capacities in the plant. The rug4 change of pea evacuates the SUS1 isoform yet has no impact on SUS2 or SUS3. This would show that these two isoforms can't compensate for the loss of SUS1 in the seed or root knob. Plainly the loss of various isoforms influence the plant in specific manners. Loss of the SH1 isoform in maize has various results from the loss of SUS1 isoform. SH1 is required for ordinary cell divider arrangement during endosperm improvement while both isoforms are required for wild-type paces of starch combination. Why diverse isoforms have various capacities is hazy. Similar capacities can be done in the cell by various isoforms yet can happen in particular cell types, formative periods or natural conditions. All things considered, distinctive isoforms could have non-covering, specific capacities in a similar cell. (Bieniawska et al., 2007) It is hard to settle on the exact jobs of the qualities in sucrose synthase quality family when there isn't sufficient data in presence. In spite of the fact that there is some data accessible on a portion of the isoforms and theyre works in the plant, no examination of the elements of the quality family has been done. The model plant Arabidopsis is perfect for doing such an examination. Six sucrose synthase qualities are in the Arabidopsis genome. In light of examinations of the amino corrosive arrangements the isoforms they encode can be separated into three particular pair gatherings. The isoforms SUS1 and SUS4 are 89% indistinguishable from one another however have under 68% comparative amino corrosive arrangements to different isoforms. So also, SUS2 and SUS3 are 74% indistinguishable from different isoforms and are 67% less indistinguishable from different types of compound. SUS5 and SUS6 are 585 indistinguishable from one another yet have less 48% closeness to the next isoform s. While analyzing different dicotyledonous species it creates the impression that in any event two of the three sets of isoforms are available. At the point when phylogenetic investigation was done, it demonstrated that the isoforms AtSUS1 and AtSUS4 are identified with sets of isoforms from pea (Fabacae), carrot (Umbelliferae) and potato (Solanacae). A couple of isoforms from Craterostigma plantagineum (Scrophulariacae) is firmly identified with the pair of isoforms AtSUS2 and AtSUS3 in the Arabidopsis. The pair AtSUS5 and AtSUS6 is connected firmly to a couple of qualities from rice. This proof shows that it is impossible that the three sets of isoforms in Arabidopsis are because of quality duplication occasions. It is conceivable that each isoform has a careful capacity safeguarded in a wide scope of plants. The individuals from Arabidopsis quality family are firmly differentially communicated in various organs of the plant through its turn of events and because of outside impro vements for example ecological pressure. This is found in quality groups of different plants contemplated. (Bieniawska et al., 2007) Natural product quality is controlled by the sort and nature of sugars present. An investigation of the sucrose synthase-encoding quality from the muskmelon organic product was done to assess how to hereditarily improve the nature of the organic product. This is finished by finding the sugar segments in organic product, to recognize the
Impact of Bank Mergers and Acquisitions on Pakistan Banks
Effect of Bank Mergers and Acquisitions on Pakistan Banks 1. Presentation 1.1 Background of the Study The Pakistani financial division has experienced uncommon change throughout the years, in arrangements of number of associations, possession constitution, just as the profundity of tasks. These alterations have been preferential for the most part by challenges imagined by deregulation in strategies of budgetary area, globalization of methodology, specialized advancements and grasping of administrative and prudential necessities that kowtow to worldwide standards. The influx of merger and acquisitions that at present moved through the financial area began after the declaration by the state bank of Pakistan, that banks in Pakistan should reinforce their base capital sufficiency proportion ought to as per bank hazard weighted resources or set by SBP. Mergers and Acquisitions are typical in creating nations of the world yet are simply getting unmistakable in Pakistan. Merger and obtaining is just another method of saying natural selection that is to state a greater, progressively effective, better-promoted, increasingly gifted industry. Is a piece of the regular development of enterprises? It is essential driven by Business thought processes or market powers and Regulatory intercessions. The issues along these lines , which this examination expect to address are whether merger and securing will achieve proficient solid and sound capital base for the bank that completely grasped mergers and to what expand can bank combine support the certainty of the clients , the speculators , the investors and capacity to fund the continuous segment . 1.2 Problem articulation The ongoing unexpected increment of bank mergers in Pakistan is drawing in much consideration, mostly due to distinct fascination for what persuades organizations to union and how mergers influence effectiveness. A view holds that companys merger to get better as well as than be efficient. It is contended that mergers permit the financial business to take improvement of new events made by change in the specialized and dictator environmental factors. A contest of this is the decrease in the quantity of banks countrywide however the convergence of intensity in nearby financial markets has not expanded. The issues of under-capitalization, bungle and poor corporate administration have kept on being wellsprings of unsteadiness and debasement in progressive Pakistani financial emergencies up till now. Henceforth, mergers are singing a helpful job in rebuilding the financial business with no hazard and absence of restriction however, it crash on fitness be deserving of consideration. This examination will consider this review by testing the impact of the merger also obtaining that had occurred in the financial division of Pakistan on the presentation of a chose bank. 1.3 Objectives of the investigation The explanation of this venture is to analyze the general effect of Banks mergers and acquisitions in the Pakistani Banking area. This exploration likewise centers around certain issues: To investigate the impact of merger just as securing on bank viability, gainfulness, extension and perseverance. To watch the effect of the merger just as procurement on the phase of seriousness in the Pakistani Banking Sector. To group those which will give advantage and be crushed in the merger and procurement methodology? Does merger support the capital base of banks? Does merger improve clients administration conveyance in the territory of data innovation, development and boosting clients certainty? 1.4 Hypothesis The theory with the goal of testing in this exploration is expressed underneath as: H0: Merger and securing has not sway on the banks execution in Pakistan h3: Merger and obtaining affects the banks execution in Pakistan 1.5 Significance of the examination The prerequisite for having a jingle economy and most particularly purifying the financial segment; It is foreseen that this work will hold out an answer for the significance and reward of merger and obtaining as a strategy apparatus for the endurance of our financial area. It will similarly be of an enormous importance to those outside the money related part, who don't think a lot about a portion of the advantage of bank merger and obtaining. 1.6 The extension and restriction of the investigation The investigation won't in any capacity occupy on the specialized issues associating with merger and obtaining or in the district of work out figures, marginally, it will endeavor to look at the effect of merger and securing in the Banking business of Pakistan. The examination will be completed in Islamabad/Rawalpindi. Thus the outcome can't be summed up. Additionally, the investigation has nothing to do with different banks despite the fact that various them have encountered mergers as well. Part 2 2.0 LITERATURE REVIEW There are numerous organizations that meeting up to start another organization and organizations assuming control over the as of now existing organizations to extend their business (Altunbas, 2005). Because of downturn numerous Pakistani organizations are confronting the inclination of vulnerability rising which become motivation to frightened to representatives, it isn't shocking when we tune in to about the tremendous corporate restructurings appears, especially in the past couple of years. A few organizations have been dominated and various have going to take interior rebuilding, while sure organizations in same region of exchange have think of it as important to converge with one another to frame one organization. There are numerous apparatuses of merger and acquisitions, branch, delicate proposition, and numerous different types of corporate rebuilding in our day by day news paper. Along these lines huge issues both for organization choice and approach making and open picture have been raised. No organization is viewed as secure from a success hazard. On the empowering rise Mergers might be risky for the solid development and expansion of the organization. Successful section into imaginative item and administrations and natural markets may require Mergers at some phase in the companys improvement. Thriving challenge in global markets may concentrate on capacities gain in an auspicious and capable manner throughout Mergers. Most questioned that mergers support worth and capability and move funding to their highest and best uses, therefore mounting investor esteem (Kruse, 2002). To settle on a merger or not is an unpredictable issue, especially in stipulations of the details concerned. We envelop practically all issues that the administration must concentration before taking official choice for merger. A great deal of conceptualizing would be important through the administrations to achieve end. Judgment must be satisfied subsequent to talking about the points of interest and drawbacks of the arranged merger and the effect of that merger on the business, regulatory advantages, on investors esteem, charge suggestions including stamp obligation. 2.1 MERGER Which means ââ¬Å"A merger is a consolidating two organizations in a single enterprise which is totally consumed by another organization. The less critical organization loses its name and works with progressively significant organization, which exists with its identity.â⬠(Chawla, 2008) What Mergers really mean: A merger is a joining two organizations in a single partnership which is totally consumed by another organization. It might involve retention or solidification. In retention one organization obtains another organization. For instance, Telenor and Tameer Microfinance Bank (TMB). In union, at least two organizations join to frame another organization. For instance, Polka and Walls. The less critical partnership loses its character and transform into the more noteworthy organization, which keep hold of its personality. A merger put out the blended partnership, and the current organization guesses all the rights, common freedoms, and liabilities of the consolidated organization. A merger isn't care for a solidification, in which two organizations lose their isolate uniqueness and join to make an absolutely new organization. A standard depends on the connection that mergers definitely evacuate rivalry between the blending organizations. This connection is most sharp where the gatherings are immediate adversary, since courts regularly accept that such arrangement are progressively flat to constrain yield and to raise costs. The fear that mergers and acquisitions decline rivalry has unavoidable that the legislature cautiously analyze arranged mergers (Altunbas, 2005). regardless of anxiety about a diminishing of rivalry, organizations are relatively allowed to purchase or sell entire organizations or specific pieces of an organization. Mergers and acquisitions habitually bring about various social repayments. Mergers can pass on better administration or innovative ability to stand on underused resources. They additionally can make economies of scale and range that lessening costs, show signs of improvement quality, and raise yield. The chance of a takeover can deject organization administrators from acting in manners that neglect to exploit benefits. A merger can empower to proprietor to offer the organization to somebody who is increasingly certifiable with the specific business and keep up a superior situation to dish out the most significant expense. The perspective on a beneficial deal urges business people to frame new organization. Merger is known as amalgamation as well. Merger is the blend of at least two organizations which are working in same period. All present and fixed resources, short and long haul liabilities and the loads of one organization moved toward other Company in impression of installment in nature of: Money Value portion of the gained enterprise, Debentures of procured enterprise, The entirety of the above in blended mode (Chawla, 2008) 2.2 Mergers versus Acquisitions These conditions are typically used to portray same thing yet in reality, they have ambiguously disparate implications. A procurement and merger give to the demonstration of one enterprise accomplishment of another organization and clearly fitting the new holder. Legitimately, the objective enterprise, the partnership that is purchased, no more presents. By and large securing is use to gained property in own

Theme Of Anxiety In Catcher In The Rye - 911 Words
The definition of existential anxiety is the negative feeling that arises in a human being. In the novel, Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger, the main character, Holden narrates events that happen after his school, Pencey, kicked him out for his deficient grades. With signs of this anxiety, he quickly finds himself in a state of depression caused by his struggle of growing up. Overwhelmed and afraid, Holden runs the other direction when he is hit with the idea of aging and his immature and innocent characteristics allow him to wander astray. Holden deals with his existential anxiety from his greatest fear, but throughout the story, we distinguish him experience phases of self hate from childish impulses and attempting to move towards theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦However, having sex is something that is considered adultlike which takes Holden one step closer to becoming independent, but he backs out and goes back to his juvenile ways. To build upon this idea, Holden also shows a glimpse of the path of helplessness when he replies ââ¬Å"noâ⬠to retain his innocence and avoids his existential anxiety. Furthermore, Holden starts daydreaming and thinking about his idealized future. He thinks, ââ¬Å"I got excited as hell thinking about it. I really did. I knew the part about pretending I was a deaf-mute really decided to go out West and allâ⬠(Salinger, 199). As seen before, Holden is running away from his problems like a child and displays symptoms of helplessness because of his existential anxiety. Instead of facing the problem head on, Holden acts as if he is unable to cope with reality and live up to his ideal self. Ultimately, Holden shows childish impulses and immaturity, which sets him on the path of self hate. The protagonist, Holden, is moving away from the issue of existential anxiety and path of self hate into the path of self compassion from the five steps: breathing, awareness, acknowledgement, acceptance, action, and appreciation, by d emonstrating acts of kindness to others. In the beginning of the story, Holden would often judge a person instantly, such as Ackley and Stradlater, but later in the novel, we notice that Holden shows less judgement and more endearment in the form of the steps of self compassion. What Is a Systematic Sample
In statistics there are many different types of sampling techniques. These techniques are named according to the way in which the sample is obtained.à In what follows we will examine a systematic sample and learn more about the orderly process used to acquire this type of sample. Definition of a Systematic Sample A systematic sample is obtained by a very straightforward process: à Begin with a positive whole number k.à à Look at our population and then select the kth element.à Select the 2kth element.à Continue this process, selecting every kth element.à We stop this selection process when we have reached the desired number of elements in our sample. Examples of Systematic Sampling We will look at a few examples of how to conduct a systematic sample.à For a population with 60 elements will have a systematic sample of five elements if we select population members 12, 24, 36, 48 and 60. This population has a systematic sample of six elements if we select population members 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60. If we reach the end of our list of elements in the population, then we go back to the beginning of our list. To see an example of this we start with a population of 60 elements and want a systematic sample of six elements. Only this time, we will start at the population member with number 13. By successively adding 10 to each element we have 13, 23, 33, 43, 53 in our sample. We see that 53 10 63, a number that is greater than our total number of 60 elements in the population. By subtracting 60 we end up with our final sample member of 63 ââ¬â 60 3. Determining k In the above example we have glossed over one detail. How did we know what value of k would give us the desired sample size? The determination of the value of k turns out to be a straightforward division problem. All that we need to do is to divide the number of elements in the population by the number of elements in the sample. So to obtain a systematic sample of size six from a population of 60, we choose every 60/6 10 individuals for our sample. To obtain a systematic sample of size five from a population of 60, we choose every 60/5 12 individuals. These examples were somewhat contrived as we ended up with numbers that worked together nicely. In practice this is hardly ever the case. It is quite easy to see that if the sample size is not a divisor of the population size, then the number k may not be an integer. Examples of Systematic Samples A few examples of systematic samples follow below: Calling every 1000th person in the phone book to ask their opinion on a topic.Asking every university student with ID number ending in 11 to fill out a survey.Stopping every 20th person on the way out of a restaurant to ask them to rate their meal. Systematic Random Samples From the above examples, we see that systematic samples do not necessarily need to be random. A systematic sample that is also random is referred to as a systematic random sample. This type of random sample can sometimes be substituted for a simple random sample. When we make this substitution we must be certain that the method we use for our sample does not introduce any bias.

None_provided Essays (654 words) - Family Law, Interracial Adoption
None_provided Kristin McOlvin Commentary While reading the September 1999 issue of Social Work: Journal of the National Association of Social Workers, I came across an article entitled ?Symbolic Interactionism, African American Families and the Transracial Adoption Controversy?. It was written by Leslie Doty Hollingsworth PhD, the assistant professor in the school of social work at the University of Michigan. The article claims that by using symbolic interactionism, it can be seen that African Americans are a unique and distinct cultural group and therefore adoption of African American children by families of a different race should only be allowed as an absolute last resort. I object strongly to this proposition and plan to use symbolic interactionism to show just the opposite. In the fall of 1972, the National Association of Black Social Workers passed a resolution about trasracial adoption. It was written, ?Black children should be placed only with Black families whether in foster care or adoption?. In my opinion it is ridiculous to put conditions on where a child up for adoption can and cannot be placed. These children have already left the ideal and cannot be with their birth parents. To limit their possibilities for a full and happy life further is cruel and unreasonable. It would be great if every child up for adoption could be taken in by people with a similar racial background to the birth parents, but that is not always the case. A child should be placed in a home in which they will be provided for, regardless of skin color. Would the people of the NABSW rather an African American child give up a chance at a good life just because the people who want to give it to them have different ancestors? The next line of the resolution reads ? Black children belong physically, psychologically and culturally in black families in order that they receive the total sense of themselves and develop a sound projection of their future?. In reaction to this, interracial relationships and families are on the rise and cultures are starting to learn and accept one another more. So what should be done with interracial babies, only let an interracial couple adopt them? And how are children supposed to ?receive a total sense of themselves and develop a sound projection of their future when they are being bounced from home to home? I feel that it would be easier to adjust to being a black child adopted by a white family than being a black child without a family at all. The resolution also states, ? Human beings are part of their environments and develop their sense of values, attitudes and self concepts within their own family structure?. I agree with this statement, but how can this be done without a family. And a family is a family, regardless of th e members skin color. It goes on to say ?Black children in white homes are cut off from the healthy development of themselves as black people.? (Simon & Alstein 135) In argument to this, children who do not have a home are cut off from healthy development of themselves at all. Also, more importantly is developing as a person, not a black person or a white person. In conclusion, if the tables were turned and a white family refused to adopt a black child it would be considered racism, so why is this different? In today's society there are so many different types of family there is hardly a norm anymore. Although it may be a rough adjustment and hard for a child to understand, with the proper love and guidance that child could become very well adjusted. No one is stopping this child from looking into their heritage, and no one says necessarily that a black family would support the culture. If someone is willing to take a child into their home, their skin color should be the last thing that people are worried about. Sociology Essays

Symbols and Special Characters in Microsoft Word
Symbols and Special Characters in Microsoft Word Symbols and Special Characters in Microsoft Word Your average keyboard has enough letters, numbers, and punctuation marks for all your day-to-day typing needs. But what if you need symbols or special characters that arenââ¬â¢t on your keyboard? Well, in Microsoft Word, you have three main options: Use the Symbol menu. Learn some ASCII codes. Use Microsoft Wordââ¬â¢s special character shortcuts. In the rest of this post, weââ¬â¢ll look at how to do each of these in your writing. 1. Using the Symbol Menu To see the Symbol menu in Microsoft Word, go to Insert Symbols on the ribbon and click the Symbol button (or Insert Advanced Symbol Symbols in the menu system in Word for Mac). Quick access symbols. This will open a quick access menu of 20 frequently used symbols to pick from. However, you can also access the full range of special characters in Microsoft Word as follows: Go to Insert Symbols and click Symbol to open the menu. Click More Symbolsâ⬠¦ to open a new window. Scroll through until you find the symbol you want to use. Click Insert to add the symbol to your document. The full range of special characters in Microsoft Word. The symbol will then appear in your document at your cursor. Microsoft Word will also add it to the quick access menu, saving your time if you need to use the same symbol again. 2. ASCII Codes ASCII codes each indicate a different symbol, so you can use them to add special characters to a document quickly via the numeric keypad: Learn or look up the correct ASCII code for the symbol(s) you need. Turn on Num Lock on your keyboard to activate the numeric keypad. Hold down the Alt key and type the required code. The corresponding symbol will then appear at your cursor position. 3. Shortcuts for Special Characters For some special characters, your simplest option is to let Microsoft Word do the hard work! There are, for example, shortcuts available for the following common symbols: Special Character Shortcut Autocorrect Option Trademark symbol (â⠢) Ctrl + Alt + T Write ââ¬Å"TMâ⬠in parentheses Registered trademark symbol (à ®) Ctrl + Alt + R ââ¬Å"Râ⬠in parentheses Copyright symbol (à ©) Ctrl + Alt + C ââ¬Å"Câ⬠in parentheses Closed Ellipsis (â⬠¦) Ctrl + Alt + . Three full stops without spaces Euro (â⠬) Ctrl + Alt + E ââ¬Å"Eâ⬠in parentheses Youââ¬â¢ll notice weââ¬â¢ve included an ââ¬Å"autocorrectâ⬠version for each symbol above. In these cases, Microsoft Word will automatically correct the specified text to create the symbol. For example, to add a trademark symbol to a document, we have two options: Hold down Ctrl + Alt + T at the same time. Write ââ¬Å"(TM)â⬠and let Microsoft Word change this to the symbol. These shortcuts are very quick and simple, so it is worth memorizing them if you use any of these symbols frequently. Similar shortcuts are also available for accented letters.
